Propose Changes To Corridors

GA 400 Corridor

Proposed system recommendations along the GA 400 corridor include existing Routes 400 and 401 merging into a single route with all trips originating from Cumming Park-and-Ride location and ending at the Dunwoody MARTA Station. As currently proposed, the new route would operate 4 total inbound trips in the morning and afternoon. Additionally, the proposed system recommendations add a Park-and-Ride location in Alpharetta/Winward to provide additional connectivity.

I-85N Corridor

Proposed system recommendations along the I-85N corridor include combining the six existing routes (410, 411, 412, 413, 414 and 416) into one singular route. The proposed system recommendations enhance efficiency by reducing the total daily morning and afternoon trips from 35 to 24. The proposed recommendations also eliminate the Dacula Park-and-Ride location and its related service due to underutilization. The single route would end at the Civic Center MARTA Station.

US 78 Corridor

Proposed system recommendations for the US 78 Corridor maintain the single Xpress Route 419, but eliminate the Snellville and Stone Mountain Park-and-Ride locations from the route due to underutilization. The proposed recommendations also reduce the total morning and afternoon trips from 14 to 10 to better match current ridership demands. The system recommendations propose the route originates from Hewatt Road Park-and-Ride and ends at Indian Creek MARTA Station for enhanced connectivity to more downtown destinations.

I-20E Corridor

The proposed system recommendations for the I-20 East Corridor include consolidating Routes 423 and 426 into a single route that would include stops at the West Conyers and Panola Road Park-and-Ride locations, and end at the Civic Center MARTA Station. The East Conyers Park-and-Ride would be eliminated and the total daily morning and afternoon trips would reduce from 31 to 12 trips to better match current ridership demand.

I-75S/US 41 Corridor

The proposed system recommendations for the I-75S/US 41 Corridor combine the five current routes (430, 431,432, 440, and 441) into two routes that end at the Civic Center and College Park MARTA Stations. The proposed system recommendations reduce the associated five Park-and-Ride lots to three: McDonough, Stockbridge, and Jonesboro. The Hampton and Brandsmart Park-and-Ride lots would be eliminated due to underutilization. In addition, daily morning and afternoon trips would be reduced from 43 to 20 total trips to better match current ridership demand.

I-85S Corridor

The proposed system recommendations for I-85 South Corridor maintain one Xpress route (Route 453), but shift the route’s termination (end) point from downtown to the College Park MARTA Station. In addition, the proposed recommendations reduce the total daily morning and afternoon trips from 8 trips to 6 trips to better match current ridership demand. The proposal maintains the Newnan Park-and-Ride lot, but removes the Union City Park-and-Ride lot due to poor conditions there and instead adds the Fairburn Park-and-Ride to continue to provide mid-route access to riders.

I-20W/SR 6 Corridor

The proposed system recommendations for the I-20 West/SR 6 Corridor maintain the two existing routes (Routes 463 and 476), but shifts the routes’ ending location from downtown to the HE Holmes MARTA Station. The proposed system changes reflect a reduction of daily morning and afternoon trips from 22 to 8 to better match current ridership demand. The Hiram Park-and-Ride lot would be closed to help improve SR 6 service efficiency, but the West Douglas, Douglas MMTC, and Powder Springs Park-and-Ride lots would remain operational.

I-75N/I-575 Corridor

The proposed system recommendations for the I-75 North/I-575 Corridor include the consolidation of five existing routes (Routes 480, 483, 484, 485, and 490) into a single route. The routes’ ending point would shift from downtown to the Civic Center MARTA Station. The proposed recommendations also reduce daily morning and afternoon trips from 24 to 8 to better match current ridership demand. In addition, per the proposed system recommendations, the single route would continue to serve the Town Center Park-and-Ride lot, as well as add service to a Marietta Park-and-Ride location. The Acworth and Hickory Grove Park-and-Ride lot locations would no longer be served.

Other Proposed Eliminations

The proposed system recommendations also include the elimination of three Xpress routes due to underutilization. Route 417 on the I-85 Corridor currently operates from the Sugarloaf Mills Park-and-Ride lot to Medical Center/Perimeter. Route 428 on the I-20 Corridor operates from the East Conyers Park-and-Ride lot to Medical Center/Perimeter. Route 442 on the I-75S Corridor operates from the Riverdale Park-and-Ride lot to downtown and the Civic Center MARTA station.
